A couple of days ago I blogged about Congress extending the federal Mental Health Parity Act for another year. Hard on the heels of that information is this article in yesterday's Washington Post. It states that Congressional leaders are optimistic about passing an updated version of the federal Mental Health Parity Act that will require true parity between coverage for mental and physical health conditions. Sounds as if the proposed legislation may provide the teeth I complained were lacking in the current statute. Time will tell but it's worth taking note of.
