Today's New York Times has a story about patterns of improper claims practices by several large long term care insurance carriers. If this story is anywhere near the truth with regard to abusive insurer practices in processing and denying long term care insurance claims, this is very troubling information. The article is the result of an in depth investigation involving extensive interviews, combing through deposition transcripts and reviewing files of pending and closed cases. I've heard stray comments from various sources about problems in getting long term care insurance claims paid but this article takes those allegations to another level.
